Drawing from the 2001 FAO International Plan of Action to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IPOA-IUU) and the impetus generated by the RPOA, several countries, for example Brunei Darussalam in 2011, Indonesia in 2012 and Timor Leste in 2013,  have developed their own National Plan of Action (NPOA) to combat IUU fishing. Implementation of these instruments is progressing.
